Advanced Validation and Testing of PCIe2®
Overview:
PCI EXPRESS® brought about a whole new series of challenges for designers and the next generation, PCI EXPRESS 2.0 takes the challenges to a new level. Doubling the speed of the link to 5GT/s while maintaining backwards compatibility with PCI EXPRESS 1.0 potentially opens up interoperability issues. These issues must be addressed and ruled out at design and validation time. Advanced validation of all layers from the Physical Layer to the Transaction Layer is required to ensure that devices will interoperate effectively when released to the market. Each of the layers require different tools and methods to validate that the design meets the specification. This presentation describes the methods and tools required to validate PCI EXPRESS 2.0 designs.
