Video and vision processing are the fastest growing technologies being deployed in automobiles today. The demand for complex programmable logic devices (CPLDs) and field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) is increasing to fuel this expansion. Higher integration of electronic components, along with declining electronics prices, is the primary enabler of this trend. Lane keeping, driver monitoring, night vision, and occupant classification are just a few of the applications driving the need for additional vehicle imagers.

No single wiring or protocol will work for all applications. This is the strength of reprogrammable FPGAs: they allow designers to easily accommodate changing and emerging standards. They are also highly cost effective and have a long life cycle.
