Addressing System Integration Challenges with Isolated Industrial Interfaces

Interfaces in industrial and instrumentation applications require isolation due to the harsh operating environments in which they operate. The designer has a choice of selecting a digital isolator or an optocoupler solution to incorporate the necessary isolation for their system. The integration of that isolation into the signal chain poses several challenges at the system level, including set-up, debug and software related pitfalls. Tools such as ADI's ezLinx(TM) board help in addressing this challenge. We will share some real world examples to show the tool's effectiveness and ease-of-use in networks such as RS-485 and CAN.
