Overview:
With millions of new electronic devices connecting to the internet every day, hackers are increasingly focused on a new type of target: mobile and embedded systems. How mobile? Even your car can be hacked.

In the 1970s and 1980s the first wave of criminal hacking attacks were against enterprise systems. In the 1990s and early 2000s, there was a second wave against desktop PCs and laptops. We are today encountering a third wave of criminal hacking in which non-PCs are the targets. This wave affects wired and wireless networks, and, of course, intelligent devices. While we might only think of wireless phones, routers and switches, printers, SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems, and medical devices, even our keyless car alarm systems are vulnerable.

James joined Mocana in 2010 and has been responsible for the driver design and implementation for new RTOS support of crypto acceleration and security protocol design on resource constrained platforms. He has successfully managed both the professional service engineering team and the technical support team and has provided product management and technical leadership as well as development skills for products on Android. Prior to joining Mocana, James was a Software Engineering manager at LSI, and a senior security architect at Integralis. James holds a masters degree from Yale and a bachelor degree from Ohio Wesleyan University.
