The modern automobile is an electronics and software intensive product—and can have more lines of software code than the latest aircraft.

Today's cars contain embedded microprocessor-enabled systems that monitor sensors and control actuation necessary for engine fuel economy and emissions control, active safety, braking and handling, and infotainment, including navigation and integration of consumer devices.

Besides such on-board electronic systems, engineers are developing technologies to enable vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to infrastructure communications, and even connections for vehicle "health" monitoring and maintenance/recall notifications.

In this webinar, our panelists will discuss:

Rick DeMeis returns as editor of Automotive Designline after having helped launched it as the first Designline in 2004-when it became, and still is, Google's top site for automotive electronics design.

Prior to Designline he was Senior Technical Editor at Design News, where his beats included automotive, aerospace, and medical applications and coverage of electronics and motion control technologies. Before that Rick served as Associate Editor for Technology at Laser Focus World and Engineering Editor for Aerospace America.

Since 2009 Christoph Braeuchle has been a Customer Requirements Manager at MKS, a PTC Company, where he is responsible for MKS Integrity™ solutions for the automotive vertical. Most recently he led the initiative to have TUV SUD Automotive certify MKS Integrity for achieving ISO 26262 compliance . He has also been responsible for successfully rolling-out MKS Integrity for Systems & Software Lifecycle Management across engineering teams with several thousand users. Today his responsibility is the definition of best practices and standard solutions to implement process models and methods in large-scale enterprises using MKS Integrity.

Maurice Geraets, Sr. Director, Automotive Business Development, NXP Semiconductors 
Maurice Geraets is Senior Director Business Development Automotive at NXP Semiconductors. He has more than 20 years of experience in the IT and Electronics industry. He joined Philips, now NXP Semiconductors, in 2002 as General Manager Software Programs & Partnerships. In his current role in NXP's automotive business unit, he focuses on new product market combinations in the area of connected mobility, by enabling new applications like e.g. intelligent transport systems, car to car communications, telematics, electronic toll collection and automated emergency calls. He is also world wide responsible for NXP's marketing and government relations in connected mobility.
