The new low-power Panel Self Refresh (PSR) feature gives a high-resolution tablet the ability to save 50% power on the system-level, when compared to previous versions of the application processor (AP) and T-CON. As new high-resolution displays are introduced to mobile devices, there is a growing need to find new power-saving methods to compensate for increased power consumption by the advanced display panels. Samsung provides a new method of saving power with the PSR feature, available for the newer Samsung high-resolution tablets. The use of eDRAM in tablets, in comparison to the old DRAM, also decreases power consumption on high-resolution tablets.
