Solar energy is becoming a major trend in the alternative energy industry. Different avenues for various applications using solar energy are being developed. Applications as simple as rural home lighting to gigantic power plants tied to the national grid exist. Solar power harvesting system designs that started in the 20th century with simple transistors and op-amps have evolved into DSP and IGBT/MOSFET based complex designs. This paper will discuss standalone solar area lighting designs using low power MCUs and some solar specific controllers available today. Such designs can be used for parking lot lighting, street lighting or any other area lighting purpose.

Just a comment to the editor. Fonts in the figure are really very small. This makes the reading of the article a bit difficult. Just making the size of the fonts in the figures "similar" to the one in the text would make a better quality paper.

Just download the actual PDF file and you can change the font size to a much bigger one to be able to read it very clearly
