The Importance of SIP in Embedded Devices

Discussions and overviews of the SIP protocol can be found throughout the web. This paper will shy away from an introduction to SIP and focus more on some of the key elements that make SIP useful in everyday networking devices. These key elements include initiating, sustaining and closing multiple simultaneous sessions, and providing the means for a data transport. This paper will also explore how a text based protocol, such as SIP, affects an embedded device.
