Power engineers have bigger and bigger challenges. Designs are more complex as the performance and capabilities of integrated circuits continues to increase. Digital solutions can help solve these issues facing today’s design engineer. Digital power management addresses system level efficiency and does so while bringing products to market more quickly. The technology also provides enhanced communication and the ability to monitor, control, and configure minimizing system power and energy consumption. As companies look for new ways of gaining a competitive edge, digital power will be an avenue that many will increasingly choose to consider.
I'm a bit speculating on this digital power technology. Ideally it is a digital control system that has all the benefits of digital control. However, with the present mature analog power supply technology and relatively demanding mixed signal processing requirement on implementing a high performance digital power supply, I would rather embrace the traditional analog power supply for a longer while. What my concerns on the digital power is how fast this supply can be implemented and high to really achieve very clean output ripples.

Data sheet shows voltage ripple at 8- 25 mVp-p. Is that clean enough? If not, what is a good target?
