Measuring Power Transients

Testing high power protection and control devices to meet national and international standards has become easier over the last few years with the advent of digitizing systems. Although the older analog impulse oscilloscopes still serve a function, the DSO or Transient Analyzer, speeds up testing and offers computerized data to both research and quality assurance engineers. Switching and surge tests for high power switchgear have required much longer memories and more channels than are usually found on a digital scope. Routine high power switching applications have awaited the arrival of long memories, multiple channels, and high resolution digitizers.
