Innovative Architecture for a 3G Baseband Co-Processor

This article describes Zyray Wireless' implementation of an innovative hybrid Hardware/Software (ARM7TDMI core-based) architecture to meet challenging design goals in developing SPINNERchip. After exploring various options the design team chose this hybrid approach as it allowed them to maximize the benefits while minimizing the risk. The design goals, which included low power consumption, low cost and maximum scalability were achieved while maintaining a small size that would not adversely affect the form factor.
