Connecting Legacy Systems to the Internet
Replacing legacy systems with newly designed ones that take advantage of a network infrastructure is costly. This paper discusses the advantages of using small, inexpensive embedded network systems to act as protocol converters for legacy systems. A small number of potential applications will be discussed, as well as hardware and software solutions that facilitate Internet-enabling legacy systems.
